Racing

In the racing arena, you are only as good as your last race. That is why at Doyle Chesapeake we are always striving to provide you with better, more durable sail shapes. Take a look at some of the projects we have helped with winning sail designs.

Grand Soleil 37

When Tapio Saavaleinen approached Doyle with the goal of assembling a dominant program for his Grand Soleil 37, his sail choice was clear; Doyle Stratis Grand Prix. With our sails and expertise, Tapio quickly scaled the leader board, taking third at Key West Race Week, Second at Miami Race Week (including a breakdown which forced the boat out of two races), and impressive wins at the New York Yacht Club annual regatta and the Bermuda Onion Patch race. Not bad considering his program is less than a year old.

C+C 99

The C+C 99 is a relatively young racing class, having been in operation for less than three years, and it is already clear that Doyle Stratis Grand Prix sails are the weapon of choice. At least that’s what Ken Karsten and his Bzing team think, and who are we to argue with a regatta record?

Beneteau 36.7

While Jim Carkhuff was racing his Beneteau 36.7, we outfitted his boat with Doyle D4 sails, and applied the same sail shape design that continues to crush the competition around the country at every NOOD regatta. Jim immediately began racking up wins, and ran a very successful campaign.

Beneteau 40.7

Jim came back to us when he moved up to the 40.7, this time opting for Stratis Grand Prix sails. He’s right back on pace, posting a podium finish every time he hits the water.

Tripp 26

We came on board with Rick Palleschi and tweaked the established dogma of sail design for the Tripp 26 class, outfitting Rick with Contender Maxx club race sails. Using his new Doyles, he started winning races. Not the least of which  was the 2005 Screwpile regatta, where he was boat of the week.

Catalina 27

The Catalina 27 fleet boasts tight racing and crowded one design starts. When Carl Engle was looking for the extra punch he needed to nose out on the fleet, he found it in his new Stratis Grand Prix genoa and Dacron main. He went on to lead the fleet in the high point standings.

Beneteau 10R

The Beneteau 10R has arrived on our shores, and Doyle was the first sailmaker on board to design and build sails. We've gotten off to a flying start at the Verve Cup and the IRC East Coast Championships, as well as impressive finishes at this year's Key West Race Week.
